Resurrecting my "wrapping cloth"
Now that the exhibition is finished, and I'm giving my hands a rest from the physical work of crocheting the retro rugs I have dug out my white and white with white wrapping cloth started a few months ago with Karen Ruane. Its taking a little while to get my head back into this style of working, to decide where I am going with it. Makes me realise I really need to get it finished before too much more time goes by.

3 part embroidery finished
I'm very pleased with these - while there was a certain amount of planning went into the series, there were still changes along the way. Ready for framing now.

Revisiting Embroidery 1
I'm doing 3 of these little embroideries.
I added the satin stitch, but wasn't very happy with the result.
so then I put some dark sorbello stitch instead - like this much more.

rugs at the exhibition
I have really enjoyed the focus on my Retro Rugs. I have made new ones - now I really need to investigate how best to sell them. They have a market niche, but how to tap into it? Retail really isn't my thing.
not even sure about displaying them to their full potential - I've tried a few props here.
Once I had put the little lace circles on this one I thought it deserved a place on a wall - reminiscent of a porcelain plate.

My work at the exhibition
I was really pleased with my exhibition work. It was a nice mix of my current craft (the retro rugs) and my current embroidery and creativity where I am striving for my own artistic style. Here are my embroidered works.
This is "Lake's Edge" - silk, lace and embroidery.
"Blustery Beach" - silk and embroidery.
"Summer Flowers" - moulded paper and embroidery.

After the exhibition
Finally, a chance to post pictures of my recent exhibition.
Well, here are all the members of extraTexture - from left - Margaret Millar, Kay Murray, Cindy Cooper, Margaret McLennan, Kerry Shelberg and Jane Bodnaruk (moi).
This is our group piece - "FOCUS". We started with the serpentine like line on a big piece of paper (120cm x 100cm), cut it into 6 pieces. The major stipulations were to work in mainly black, and to feature the line in metallic. The textures and creativity are amazing.
